Reviewed By: Mary Myla Andamon on 14/06/2004 This neat 'contraption' really works! I must admit I was initially sceptical about the notebook cooler. I was convinced to purchase it only after reading a number of reviews online, all of them of course, extolling its great features and giving it high ratings. Some have even conducted short of scientific experiments on it (complete with temperature readings represented by equally scientific-looking graphs!).
I got my Antec notebook cooler (pearl) three days ago, immediately installed and used it. True to the manufacturer's
specifications, it is plug and play - much like most mice and keyboard. When using my laptop, mostly for word processing,
I would have several tasks (windows?) running at the same time - a couple or three word documents, endnote, a number of wordpad and the windows media player. I noticed that although the laptop is properly placed on my work table with adequate ventilation (as per manufacturer's recommendation, of course), it would really get so hot and I felt as though its cooling system would exert so much effort to keep everything properly cooled. I did not conduct an elaborate experiment to check the 'effectiveness' of my new gadget. However, working my usual pace for one day and running the notebook cooler, when the laptop fan starts, really 'cooled' the laptop. My gauge is that it is not as hot to touch and the laptop fan only works intermittently and for shorter periods. The humming sound of the two fans of the notebeook cooler is also almost negligible and not annoying. It also helps that the notebook cooler is easy on the eye. I got myself the pearl coloured one that it complements the colour of my laptop. I am very happy with this purchase and I highly recommend it to anyone using a laptop. Thank you, Mr Gadget!
