 Yesterday I made note of the incredible price drop on high quality, large LCD monitors. Well the same applies with the powerful graphics cards needed to run them.  Everything USB has just posted a review of the Tiger-only USB TV dongle review. Miglia TVMicro isn't the first of its kind, but such form factor is apparently the only one for Mac as of this writing. It is about 40% thicker than a iPod shuttle so you can almost dangle it around your neck. The remote, on the other hand, is about double the size of the TVMicro. The TV chipset that is very difficult to identify as well as the USB controller make up for the bulk for this over-sized tuner dongle.

 Far out... it wasn't that long ago when I thought 100Gb was a large capacity for a hard drive. Well now we are blessed with a whopping 750GB option!! The Seagate 750GB Barracuda 7200.10 Sata Hard Drive is one of the first, if not the first, hard drive to boast this massive capacity. Obviously with such a large capacity hard drive, the obvious drawback and therefore question would be - What if the hard drive gets damaged? That's a lot of data lost! Well Seagate have implemented a clever design called "Perpendicular Recording", whereby the distance between the drive head and platter is increased to reduce physical damage as well as increasing data storage density. There is also a "Clean Sweep" function which causes the drive head to pass over the platter at power up to smooth out any irregular disc movements. In a review on the Seagate 7200.10 by Atomic, they found the hard drive out performs the competition quite comfortably, although it still doesn't reach the speed of the Western Digital Raptor. Then again, given it's capacity and spin speed, the 7200.10 does an incredible job in performance.  I've found that after buying a new gadget, I go on an accessories sending spree for that particular device. Take for example my iPod. I had to have a case, a screen protector, dock, speakers, cables, fm transmitter, so on and so forth. I now realize that the aftermarket accessories should be separated into two categories. The luxury items and the essential items. With new PDA's being released every five or six months, it's easy to go all out on the non-essentials. But investing in such a high value gadget, one should be wary of making an investment into protecting the gadget. My two essentials for any PDA is a screen protector and a case. Because the screen of a PDA is the main user interface, it is most important to have ample protection. There are many screen protectors out there but not are all worthy of the name. Some should be called "screen degraders" instead. Expert Shield's screen protectors are by far the best I have used. They only come in single packs (yes, that's right, only one in a pack) but will outlast any cheap dozen pack out there. I've had the same screen protector on my XDA II Mini for over a year now!
