o2 Xda Atom : Smaller and more features than Xda Mini!
 Yup, they're at it again! In the next few months, O2 looks set to release another new addition to the Xda family, the O2 Xda Atom. As the name suggests, it is small! In fact smaller than its predecessor the O2 Xda II Mini. However despite the size difference, its bigger on features.  I'm a big fan of laptop backpacks.  Well, can you believe it, I am totally lost for words. I spent all night lying awake in my bed trying to think of something smashingly witty to say about "15 minutes" and "battery charger".  If you have never heard of Sennheiser before, then that must've been an awfully big rock that you've been hiding under for the past, say, 50 years! Giant killers beware. The O2 XDA Exec is here and with the features it packs, this is one giant that will be hard to fell. Considered to be the holy grail by many an XDA user, the Exec is truly one device that seems to have it all. It's definitely too big to pocket but it's also a lot smaller than a notebook. And with the out-of-the-box features it has, this may well be the device which could see laptops being left on the desktop.  One thing I must stress is the VGA screen. Starting early October, Mr.Gadget is proud to be one of the first companies in Australia to sell the new Griffin iTrip LCD iPod FM Transmitter. This looks like one nice piece of kit!
One of the biggest gripes that I've had with the original iTrip is that it's a bit fiddly having to change radio stations if suddenly the radio station you're currently using gets swamped by stray FM signals, especially while you're driving. Now I can change radio stations on the fly simply by turning the knob and pressing it when a station is selected. How easy is that??

I also thought that I got exceptional FM reception from the iTrip. Well, believe it or not, apparently the new iTrip LCD has even better reception through its DX/LX selector. DX (mono) provides reception better than cassette adapters (like our XtremeMac Cassette Adapter), while LX (stereo) provides equivalent reception.
 Still mostly retains the original's design, which works very well with the white iPods.

 Everyone just loves to let their creative juices flow. I like to take photographs of... stuff... and... people... but sometimes I'm not quite happy with the results. Like, for example, there's a person I don't like in the photo, I can just fire up Adobe Photoshop and airbrush them out. Or if I want to make some funky logo, I just need to open Adobe Illustrator, or if I want to become a media mogul and create my own gadget magazine, I can use Adobe InDesign, or even possibly creating a webpage with very strange blogs using Adobe GoLive, well, you'd think that sort of software would cost me over 5 grand.  So the sky didn't fall and bright beams of light didn't shine down on the earth while golden trumpets blared yesterday. Creative's going after everyone now. This time around, the Singapore-based company brings out their new flash-based Vidz 'portable media center' to lure poor folks who couldn't afford an Archos.  The Vida measures at 32 x 66 x 15.7mm, and sports a tiny 1.18" OLED to display JPEG or to playback MPEG-4 in ultra-low res. The horizontally-oriented unit, available in 1GB and 512MB, can last up to 10 hrs before the embedded battery needs a recharge via USB 2.0. Other features include a FM tuner and voice recorder. All these add up to $250 price tag for 512MB and $350 for 1GB. If you follow MP3 news, you'll know the Creative's Vidz is the answer to Samsung's YP-T8, but the latter has a tad larger 1.8" LCD.
 You know, the iPod mini is such a beautiful thing. I mean, who could resist something as well-designed as that in a package slightly larger than a mobile phone? And it holds 4GB worth of music and data to boot! I find that the lovely brushed metal surface extremely seductive. Well, here is the letdown. It scratches easily. Don't you just hate that?
