 I recently setup a printer for my uncle and was annoyed to find that the printer did not come with a printer cable! Apparently, most new printers these days have the USB printer cable missing. Can someone please give me a logical answer to why this is, besides printer manufacturers giving retailers an opportunity to make a small buck?  On a recent trip to the U.S., I had some free time in the car so I thought I would write myself a little reminder of laptop accessories I need to bring on my next trip. Forgetting to bring my USB light (so that I could use my laptop at night) was another reason why I created this short list for road warriors. Hope this helps! Mr.Gadget's Laptop Travel Tips- AC Power Supply: Make sure to bring your ac power supply! I forgot to bring mine on a trip to Hong Kong this year and was forced to hunt around for a place that sold a compatible power supply. - AC Power Supply Converters: Get relevant AC adapter converters for the country you'll be traveling to. You can buy these at the airport, Dick Smith and good luggage stores. - Mobile Power Pack / Charger: If you're going to be portable for long periods without access to powerpoints, I would recommend an external power pack, like the Socket Mobile Power Pack. Great for charging/powering your gadgets on the road. I've got one and it has come in very handy. - Lowest Laptop Display Brightness: Change your laptop brightness to the lowest to conserve battery power. On most laptops you can do this by pressing the Function button ("Fn") and the brightness buttons together. - USB Light: Get a USB light to keep your keyboard illuminated in dark situations. - Wireless LAN/ WiFi Card: Get a WiFi card so that you can keep up with emails or Internet surfing while abroad. There are some airports that even have free WiFi such as San Francisco Airport! If you're traveling to the U.S. every StarBucks has a T-Mobile Wireless LAN to allow you to access the Web. Get at least an 802.11G (54Mbps) that's compatible with 802.11B (11Mbps) wireless networks. If you're new to WiFi cards, just ask for a 802.11G/B WiFi PCMCIA/ PC Card. - Laptop Bag: Make sure you have a good bag. One that has enough pockets to hold all your gadgets and important travel documents. I also suggest you get a bag that allows for easy and quick access to your laptop – handy for when you discover you're in a WiFi hotspot. I've had a lot of bags but my current Booq BOA XM 15 inch is my favourite. This slim backpack has pockets for everything, even one accessible from the side that keeps my passport and other important travel documentation. - Wireless/Bluetooth Mouse: I would recommend getting a radio wireless or Bluetooth mouse - the less cords you have the better.  Expert Shield have released a new O2 XDA Mini screen protector that is the best we've seen! It's easier to install than the eXiMs and is made of the same silicon based, reusable material. A must have for the PDA user is the all important screen protector. One can forego the protective or elegant case option but a screen protector is a must in my opinion. Like a seatbelt in a car, a screen protector should be compulsory on a PDA.
In come the Expert Shield Screen Protector. For those familiar with the Exim branded screen protectors, the Expert Shield are one and the same in quality. Totally on the level with Exim, Expert Shield leaves other brand screen protectors in the dust, or lint, or whatever may be on your screen. At just less than $20 a piece, they are not the cheapest on the market. But you get what you pay for in this instance. I know there are el cheapo brand screen protectors which you can purchase for the same amount with ten more pieces in the package but i'd like to see that whole packet outlast just one of these Expert Shield Screen Protectors. With quality that covers screen clarity and durability, the Expert Shield screen protectors are well worth the investment. You will be left impressed!
Initial application of the Expert Shield screen protector is a breeze. With two backing strips clearly marked which side is the writing surface and which is the sticky one, you can't go wrong. If my Mini had fingers, it probably could do it itself! And if that isn't enough, it also comes with a few simple instructions on how to do it anyway.
The Expert Shield screen protectors are also totally washable and as such are re-usable. Just wash in warm water and gently blow dry in a steamy bathroom to eliminate dust from attaching on the silicon based surface. Then simply re-apply.
I've had mine on for a month now and there's no sign yet for me to apply a new one on. If these are anything like my previous Exim screen protector, I don't think i'll have to change it until next year! Some like to go bareback, some like a saddle. But what good is a car without wheels or a plane without wings? What good is a PDA with a scratched up screen?
