While going through my pile of snail-mail that I had amassed during my two week overseas trip, I noticed that my July APC Magazine subscription had arrived. I remembered we sent one of their gadget reviewers, Dan Warne, a Mr.Gadget BLITZ 256 Card Disk for review in his Down Time Section, so I quickly paged through to that area. Here I am back in the U.S. Once again I'm sitting in Star Bucks at the Great Mall in San Jose, waiting for my wife to finish shopping. A street in Milpitas, CaliforniaNestled amongst the distinctive sun-burnt Calaveras Hills, Milpitas is a suburb adjoining San Jose. Around a 1 hour drive from San Francisco and home to some of my favourite relatives, this would be one of the places in the U.S. where I would consider living. Despite the huge possibilities in the U.S., I still call Australia home and can't wait to be back in Melbourne!

I was just reminded that our office will be closed this Monday due to the Queen's Birthday Holiday which is celebrated in Australia. After a bit of Googling, I've rediscovered that the Queen's birthday is in fact on April 21st and not this coming June 13th! According to Wikipedia.com, the Queen's birthday is celebrated at this time because there are not enough winter holidays! It also states that the occasion is used to signify the start of the skiing season and to honour newest members of the "Queen's Birthday honours list", of which new members are inducted into the Order of Australia. Whether it's the exact date or not, we wish Her Majesty a happy 79th birthday!
Sick of running out of space with your current Hotmail or Yahoo account? Yes? Good news. I've got 50 invitations for 2GB email accounts!! You may have heard of the Google Gmail accounts that have been in beta mode for the last couple of months with a considerable 1GB of storage available. The catch? Google shows advertisements based on keywords that appear in your emails...not a bad price to pay, if you ask me. In order to get a Gmail account, you need someone who already has one, to send you an invite. I was fortunate to have a couple of friends who are well connected and got mine early last year. Mailbox sizes have now been bumped up to 2GB, which makes it even more enticing. I now have 50 invites sitting in my account ready to go! How to install your O2 XDA IIs / iMate PDA2K Screen Protector by Expert Shield:
Step 1:
Clean the mobile phone screen screen surface thoroughly to ensure that there are no dust particles, fingerprints or other contaminants. Make sure to finish with a lint-free dry cloth so that the surface is fully dry before you apply the protector. (Oil or wet particles are difficult to remove when trapped between the protector and the screen.)
Step 2:
Remove a portion of the screen protector's plastic backing from the top down. Be careful not to touch or expose the underside of the screen protector to dust or fingerprints.
Step 3:
The screen protector is precision cut to fit the phone screen. For a perfect fit, align carefully the screen protector along one edge of the phone screen, and make sure that it is square against the edge. Order was received lightning fast. The I-Rocks MP3 transmitter connects to the car lighter socket. It has variable frequencies that you can tune your FM radio to that are indicated by the combination of 4 LED's Ranging from 88.1 to 107.9 Mhz.
It came with a side USB and top USB connector. The top unit you plug the USB flash card (memory stick). It has an audio plug next to it for MP3 players, I-Pods etc.
One lead has a USB plug and clip on the end. This is not explained in the documentation but is needed if the radio antenna of your car is at the back away from the player. You need to plug it into the side USB socket and it acts as a booster aerial. If not used the sound quality is very poor. If your radio antenna is at the front you don't need to use it.
The sound quality is very good.
One bad point if you use a large flash drive to store your songs( 1 gig will hold 200 to 300 songs) every time you stop and start the car the songs restart from the beginning. You can only skip forward and back one song per press it does not have a random or remember last played song feature. If you use an MP3 player the player itself will do the sorting.
