Blueant Bluesonic Bluetooth Portable Speakers Review

Blueant Bluesonic Bluetooth Portable Speakers Product PageIf you're a regular on our front page you've probably heard about Blueant's two new gadgets. Scroll down a bit and you'll see one of them, the X5. The other one is the Blueant Bluesonic Bluetooth Portable Speakers. What I can't figure out is how they pack so much sound in such a small package! It's like one of those questions that can't be answered like, "Is Goofy a dog?"

We've been using one of these speakers in the office for the past week. Putting it through it's paces the first thing I can say is that this thing has great battery life. It has a built-in rechargeable battery and after almost one week of usage, it's still going. Right now we've wired up an iPod to the Bluesonic with the included 3.5mm stereo cable and use it about 5 hours a day. At first, we weren't too impressed with the sound. Which wasn't a surprise because how much sound can you really pull out from such small speakers? But our minds we're changed (and humbled) once we realised the iPod's volume wasn't turned up. It's always the simple things that solve the problem! So we turned the volume up and up and up. The volume on this thing is impressive. It filled our warehouse and then some!

A few days ago while listening to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, a friend called my phone. I had almost forgotten that the night before I had paired up my XDA II Mini with the Bluesonic and when he called, the Bluesonic automatically switched from the iPod to the call. The sound was clear, I could hear him and he could hear me. At this point i'll have to throw in some caution. If you're looking for a handsfree device with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround and THX, this isn't the place. You'll have to go to Neverland to find that.

The Blueant Bluesonic Bluetooth Portable Speakers come with the usual extras in the box, manual, CD, AC adapter and 3.5mm stereo cable. Blueant have also added in a USB Bluetooth dongle in case your computer doesn't have in-built bluetooth. A nice addition. But the dongle also is preloaded with a few essential Bluetooth profiles for stereo music streaming and even VOIP. If you're wondering at this stage if this device can pair to multiple other devices, the answer is yes. In fact it can pair with up to eight different devices at once!
