Shintaro USB Flash Drives: Tough and fast
Shintaro are known for their multimedia. Well not to be content with staying in the shadow of well known brands such as Sandisk and Corsair, Shintaro have their own range of impressive flash drives that will attract a lot of attention. When I first glanced at the Shintaro USB Flash Drives I thoght they looked pretty 'tough'. Well my first impression was solidified when I read an incredible article highlighting the durability of these pocket drives. Now I think we can all relate to treating our flash drives a bit roughly at times. Well in this article, the owner of a Shintaro flash drive mentioned how he misplaced his. Content to the fact he had probably left it in the back of a computer somewhere, he gave up hope. Until one day, three months later, his wife saw this strange, plastic stick pocking our from inside the washing machine. It was her husband's Shintaro flash drive!!! Elated, he cleaned it up, dried it and plugged it into his computer with the faint hope he may be able to recover his data files. Miraculaously it still worked!!! No that's what I call hard core durability!! The flash drive had survived 3 months of dirt, soap and water inside the unforgiving, harsh environment of a washing machine!
Now not to say that will happen to us, but it just re-inforces how tough these flash drives are! Performance is also impressive with a stated transfer rate of 480Mbs, as well as the option of protecting your data with a password. And one final feature which I always like - a strong key ring link. I hate it how some flash drives have this flimsy, little plastic key ring link that breaks after a week or two. Along with their competitive pricing, the Shintaro Flash Drives definitely pose some serious competition to other well know flash drive brands.

The comment on speed is misleading, USB 2.0 has a maximum speed of 480 Mpbs, which has nothing to do with the actual speed of the flash drive, quite simply if they managed to achieve this speed, then where is the proof? someone copy a 100mb file please, considering the fastest known speed of a flash drive currently is 34 Meg's per sec, i seriously doubt Shintaro has made such a huge breakthrough, and received absolutely no recognition for their cutting edge technology, their web site says "up to" 480 mbps which is a stupid comment to make
