Polar Wearlink T31 Coded Transmitter: at last you can change the battery yourself!

When I bought my Polar heart rate monitor a few years ago, as impressed as I was, I found the transmitter band a little uncomfortable and restrictive. With the front third of the band being hard plastic, it may not mould to your body shape as intended, thus reducing the quality of the cardiac signal being sent to the Polar watch. To help reduce this problem you can tighten the strap, but then it gets rather restrictive and can increase the work of breathing. Let's face it, we have enough of a struggle just trying to beat our PB, let alone worry about our intercostal contractions being hampered leading to a mild restrictive pattern. In other words, harder for the rib cage to expand and contract. Did I mention I worked as a Respiratory Scientist before becoming a Gadgeteer!

Anyway, to combat this problem, Polar have brought out the Polar Wearlink T31 Coded Transmitter. This is the first 'soft transmitter belt' to hit the Polar range. The transmitter is sown into the elasticised strap, meaning the transmitter belt contours to your body much more effectively. Having no rigid plastic section at the front, the Wearlink Transmitter is much more comfortable and is able to pick up a signal more efficiently. But you know what the best thing is... you can change the battery yourself!!! No more sending your transmitter to Polar to be replaced. Just change the battery yourself and you're reading to hit the track running again!
