Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse: As close to cordless perfection as we've seen!

Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse Product PageThe introduction of cordless keyboards and mice brought much excitement to PC owners - Any help in getting rid of the cord-infested clutter is much appreciated. As good as it was with the introduction of cordelss devices, new limitations were discovered that corded devices didn't have. In the case of cordless mice, their sensitivity, weight distribution due to the on board batteries and battery life were the main headaches. Well the Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse has come as close as any mouse has to irradicate those annoyances!

With a 2.4GHz transmitter, sensitivity is excellent with no lag to speak of, making it a dream for gamers. Motion resolution or 'smoothness' is incredibly high due to its 2000dpi laser engine, making it very attractive for those seeking absolute precision like graphic designers.

Like the Logitech MX1000 Laser Cordless Mouse, the G7 has a battery power indicator so you know when you are low on juice. However that's where the similarities end. InstLithium Ion Battery and G7 Battery Slotead of a large, ugly, plug-in transmitter hub being present, a small thumb-sized dongle is used - nice! AAA batteries which causes the mouse to be bottom heavy are a thing of the past with the G7 being powered by a replaceable lithium ion battery which is shaped like a small, thin cartridge. As a result, weight distribution is far more balanced. But what's even better is that you receive a second battery along with a battery charger! Whilst you are using one battery, the other is charging. Once the mouse battery is on empty, simply swap batteries over and continue to utilise mousing excellence! This this design is really cool! On top of the battery charger... literally... is a USB 2.0 port. This allows you to plug the dongle into the charger so that the mouse only takes up one USB port on your PC. This just keeps getting better!

Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse, Dongle, two Lithion Ion Batteries and Changer with USB 2.0 plugFor those looking for the pinnacle in controlling excellence and comfort, look no further than the Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse. Do Logitech know no limits to attaining technological excellence - apparently not!

Features of the Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse:

2000 dpi laser engine - An ultra-high resolution engine churns images at an astounding 6.4 megapixels per second. A massive (30-pixel by 30-pixel) sensor array and precision laser technology allow the G7 to deliver best-in-class performance and tracking.

Full-speed USB + 2.4 GHz cordless - 4X faster than conventional mice, USB delivers blazing speed and instant acceleration. With a 5X stronger connection, 2.4 GHz wireless "bulletproofs" the G7 against lags and interference dropouts.

Two fast-swap ultra-light Li-ion packs - Recharging doesn't have to mean pausing the action. . In the default gaming power mode, the battery life will last up to two and a half days for average game play.

Battery-level indicator - The five-level gauge tells you exactly how much game time remains.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) gaming feet - Forget sticky workarounds-the G7's durable polytetrafluoroethylene feet give the ultra-smooth glide you want in a gaming mouse.

In-game sensitivity switching - The G7 provides instant access to three sensitivity levels- 400 dpi, 800 dpi, and 2000 dpi-before driver installation. Shift from pixel-precise targeting to fast-twitch maneuvers, without pausing the action.

One battery fails 1 year and 5 days after purchase. Even though it has a 3 year warranty, the supplier wants to charge me $35 to replace the faulty battery. Logitech told me that I have no option but to pay.

    Lessons learnt:

    1. Get a mouse that takes AA batteries.
    2. Don't trust a 3 year warranty from Logitech.

Both of my batteries failed exactly 1 year and 5 days into my warranty period.
