Blueant X3 Micro Bluetooth Headset : A New Favourite!
I've tried at least 10 different bluetooth headsets over the last year and I must say that mobile bluetooth headsets are generally getting better. Longer battery life, vibration alert, caller-ID display and even inbuilt ringtones are fast becoming the norm. However while it seems that every Tom, Dick and Harry is trying to come up with their own bluetooth headset the only brands that I would recommend that you pay attention to are Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Jabra, Logitech, Plantronics, Motorola and Blueant - trust me don't bother with unknown brands or el cheapo headsets; you'll just be disappointed.Speaking of bluetooth headsets, I've just had the privilege of testing out the award winning, brand spanking new Blueant x3 Micro Bluetooth Headset. First of all, kudos to Blueant Australia for bringing in this very cool gadget down under!
First impressions? Tiny, ultra light, chic design, blue flashing lights - I like blue flashing lights!
Setup was as easy as I anticipated. Again, like with many other Blueant gadgets, I did not even need to read the manual to pair it up with my XDA IIi - I just pushed what was very obviously the power button, held the power button down together with the volume up button, waited for the blue and red lights to flash, input the pair code (1234) and wham!
One of the best features of the Blueant x3 Micro is all the goodies you get with it! I was surprised to find steak knives and the kitchen sink missing:
- One Bluetooth Blueant x3 Micro headset.
- One USB charging cable.
- One user guide.
- One AC wall charger
- One car lighter adapter for USB charging cable.
- One soft gel earbud cover
- Two foam earbud covers
- One removable ear-hook.
See what I mean?
Even though you can just pop it into your ear without any other attachments, I have opted to use the ear-hook for that extra snug fit. It sits very well on my ear and is unobstrusive enough to go mostly unnoticed in shopping centres, banks and other public domains (or maybe people were just being polite?).
Took it with me on a bike road this morning and had someone comment on how clear the voice conversation was. The Blueant x3 Micro is definitely less cracklier than other bluetooth headsets I've had. When you use it in conjunction with MSN Messenger, sound quality is also acceptable - not as good as when using with mobile device but satisfactory.
All-in-all a superb device and can certainly see why it won the Innovations Award 2005.
