
You may have noticed that I didn't post yesterday. This was because my
Acer TravelMate 8000 Series laptop decided not to power on anymore. For obvious reasons, I was dismayed, but when I brought it to the Acer Service Centre (
Highpoint) here in Melbourne, I was pleasantly reminded that for one year I had a 2-hour return-to-base warranty. This means for the next 12 months, if anything goes wrong with my notebook, I would just have to take to the service centre and it would be fixed in 2 hours!! Wow! I had already predicted that I would be without it for a week or so.
Sure enough, 2 hours after I had dropped off my notebook, I received a call on mobile saying that it was ready to be picked up. Turns out that the main board had died and it was replaced. The whole process was quick and painless - the staff at
Highpoint were also extremely courteous.
So here I am, happily posting again.
