Last week I received the Creative SoundBlasterAxx AXX200 Bluetooth Speaker to review from @CreativeLabs. I’ve reviewed a lot of bluetooth speakers over the years (one of my favourites was actually by @CreativeLabs, the Zii Speaker), but I’d have to say that the Creative SoundBlasterAxx AXX200 is the most enjoyable and useful. The fact that you can have so much fun using the Karaoke and voice effects (my daughters loved this!), then also use it as a telephone speakerphone means that it’ll be perfect for both young and old.

We’ve seen the world of smartwatches come alive in the last couple of months. Some of the watches that have taken the limelight are the Samsung Galaxy Gear, Pebble and Sony Watch 2. Unfortunately neither of these have been terribly successful. I’d sum up the reasons for low adoption being the newness of the smart watch concept and terrible battery life – the longest lasting being the Pebble which lasts between 5-7 days. I’m waiting for my Pebble Steel to arrive, but I’m also eagerly anticipating Apple’s first offering. This post describes my wish list of features for Apple’s “iWatch”.
This weekend I was able to open and play around with the new Creative Sound BlasterAxx AXX 200 Bluetooth Speaker. I’m currently still reviewing the AXX 200 but thought I’d give you a sneak preview. What is it? Well that’s the beauty of the Creative Sound BlasterAxx AXX 200 Bluetooth Speaker – it’s a lot of things! In a nutshell the Creative Sound BlasterAxx AXX 200 is a portable wireless speaker which has music, teleconference, charger functionality and most unique to the device, are the voice sound effects and megaphone capability. So far, as a family, we’ve had a lot of fun with the Sound BlasterAxx AXX 200 and that’s always a good thing!
The Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas is a tech geek’s paradise. Every January, some of the world’s coolest gadgets are announced there. You can imagine what an interesting combination gadgets and Las Vegas make! Of course you also get a stack load of not so noteworthy junk as well. I hope to make it back there one day (here’s my post from CES 2011). One of the smartphones that caught my attention at CES this year was the new Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. As the name suggests it bears the power of Sony’s flagship line but in a much more ergonomic form factor.

Late last year while on the FitBit website ordering the FitBit Force (see review here), I spotted another cool fitness device : the Fitbit Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale. For me, the whole idea of tracking my weight automatically was appealing especially as I plan to shed a few more kgs this year. The Fitbit Aria does exactly this and as a family, we’re really loving this gadget.
Last night I put in an order for the Pebble Steel ($249 direct from Pebble website), which is Pebble’s latest smartwatch offering. The Pebble Steel was named as one of the top 10 devices at CES 2014 which is a very noteworthy accolade considering the thousands of gadgets that were announced! One of the best things I like about the Pebble Steel is that it works with both iOS and Android devices, unlike the other main smartwatches like the Samsung Galaxy Gear and Sony Smartwatch 2 which only play with Android.
I’ll say it upfront : I’m a huge Razer fan. I’ve owned a couple of their gaming mice, mousepads and headphones to aid my gaming experiences with the likes of World of World of Warcraft and Rift. So when I heard they announced a fitness gadget, I just had to look into it. I am of course talking about the Razer Nabu.
Wearables seemed to be one of the big themes for CES 2014 with a plethora of devices being unveiled. Seems every man and his pug is releasing something. The LG LIfeband Touch was one of the more interesting wearables that caught my eye because of its fitness tracking as well as additional handy features such as being able to view incoming phone calls and monitor your heart beat (via headphone earbuds).
